Calling Tehran on Skype; Iranian Diaspora's initiative
February 14th - Few hours before the scheduled protest by Green Movement, the government has already launched a security crackdown and is closing down channels of free communication. Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi have been incommunicado for almost 24hrs, says Mousavi's top adviser Ardeshir Amir Arjmand. Many Iranians still do not know about Green Movement's call for protest on this day. The Iranian diaspora is creatively using Skype and Yellow Pages, to call Iranians in the morning (Tehran time) at work in offices, stores, businesses and inform them of the time and location of the protest to be held in Central Tehran. Strating from Emam Hussein square and ending in Azadi (Freedom) square is the route where Green Movement supporters have been invited to rally in solidarity with the uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia. It was on this same street on 25 June 2009 where over three million Iranians protested the results of the disputed presidential elections.
